que contribuem para proporcionar ou ampliar habilidades funcionais de pessoas com deficiência e consequentemente promover &lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Vida Independente&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; font-family: Arial;"&gt;Assistive Technology, traduzido no Brasil como Tecnologia Assistiva&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;, foi criado em 1988 como importante elemento jurídico dentro da legislação norte-americana conhecida como &lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Public Law 100-407&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt; e foi renovado em 1998 como &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Assistive_Technology_Act_of_1998#Sec._3." target="_blank"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="color: windowtext; font-family: Arial; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;"&gt;Assistive Technology Act de 1998 (P.L. 105-394, S.2432)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;. Compõe, com outras leis, o &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.ada.gov/pubs/ada.htm" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="color: windowtext; font-family: Arial; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;"&gt;ADA - American with Disabilities Act&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;, que regula os direitos dos cidadãos com deficiência nos EUA, além de prover a base legal dos fundos públicos para compra dos recursos que estes necessitam.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Os &lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Recursos&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; são todo e qualquer item, equipamento ou parte dele, produto ou sistema fabricado em série ou sob medida utilizado para aumentar, manter ou melhorar as capacidades funcionais das pessoas com deficiência. São exemplos práticos de atendimento educacional especializado: o ensino da Língua Brasileira de Sinais (LIBRAS) e do código BRAILLE, a introdução e formação do aluno na utilização de recursos de tecnologia assistiva, como a comunicação alternativa e os recursos de acessibilidade ao computador, a orientação e mobilidade, a preparação e disponibilização ao aluno de material pedagógico acessível, entre outros.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;O que é tecnologia assistiva e que relação ela tem com a Sala de Recursos Multifuncional ?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;De acordo com a definição proposta pelo Comitê de Ajudas Técnicas (CAT), tecnologia assistiva "é uma área do conhecimento, de característica interdisciplinar, que engloba produtos, recursos, metodologias, estratégias, práticas e serviços que objetivam promover a funcionalidade, relacionada à atividade e participação, de pessoas com deficiência, incapacidades ou mobilidade reduzida, visando sua autonomia, independência, qualidade de vida e inclusão social. (CAT, 2007)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;A tecnologia assistiva é um recurso ou uma estratégia utilizada para ampliar ou possibilitar a execução de uma atividade necessária e pretendida por uma pessoa com deficiência. Na perspectiva da educação inclusiva, a tecnologia assistiva é voltada a favorecer a participação do aluno com deficiência nas diversas atividades do cotidiano escolar, vinculadas aos objetivos educacionais comuns. São exemplos de tecnologia assistiva na escola os materiais escolares e pedagógicos acessíveis, a comunicação alternativa, os recursos de acessibilidade ao computador, os recursos para mobilidade, localização, a sinalização, o mobiliário que atenda às necessidades posturais, entre outros.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Como se organiza o serviço de tecnologia assistiva na perspectiva da educação inclusiva?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;No atendimento educacional especializado, o professor fará, junto com o aluno, a identificação das barreiras que ele enfrenta no contexto educacional comum e que o impedem ou o limitam de participar dos desafios de aprendizagem na escola. Identificando esses "problemas" e também identificando as "habilidades do aluno", o professor pesquisará e implementará recursos ou estratégias que o auxiliarão, promovendo ou ampliando suas possibilidades de participação e atuação nas atividades, nas relações, na comunicação e nos espaços da escola. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;A sala de recursos multifuncional será o local apropriado para o aluno aprender a utilização das ferramentas de tecnologia assistiva, tendo em vista o desenvolvimento da autonomia. Não poderemos manter o recurso de tecnologia assistiva exclusivamente na sala multifuncional para que somente ali o aluno possa utilizá-lo. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;A tecnologia assistiva encontra sentido quando segue com o aluno, no contexto escolar comum, apoiando a sua escolarização. A mudança de entendimento sobre o que é a deficiência e especialmente o novo modelo biopsicossocial e ecológico de compreendê-la como o resultado da interação do indivíduo, que possui uma alteração de estrutura e funcionamento do corpo, com as barreiras que estão impostas no meio em que vive; mostram-nos que os impedimentos de participação em atividades e a exclusão das pessoas com deficiência são hoje um problema de ordem social e tecnológica e não somente um problema médico ou de saúde. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;As grandes e mais importantes barreiras estão, muitas vezes, na falta de conhecimentos, de recursos tecnológicos, na não aplicação da legislação vigente, na forma como a sociedade está organizada de forma a ignorar as diferentes demandas de sua população.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Nesse sentido, o conceito e a prática da tecnologia assistiva também evolui saindo da concepção de recursos médicos ou clínicos para um bem de consumo de um usuário que busca um apoio tecnológico para resolução de um problema de ordem pessoal e funcional. Nessa perspectiva, o usuário deixa de ser um paciente e assume o papel de quem busca no âmbito da tecnologia assistiva a informação sobre o que é mais apropriado para suprir a sua deficiência e os recursos disponíveis para o seu caso específico.
